We are seeking a sharp, experienced software engineer with a creative edge, strong problem-solving skills, and a solid software development foundation. A developer who can work with an already existing Ruby on Rails application to continue development and add new features, work closely with an international team, and support the local project implementers in Chile. This is a 6-month, part time contract with the possibility of extension.
Due to the time sensitive nature of this project, we need a professional who can communicate effectively on a daily basis to ensure that all business requirements are being assessed and addressed to ensure development projects meet or exceed performance targets.
PRIMARYRESPONSIBILITIES
Take existing code of a SMS application (in Ruby on Rails) and make feature improvements
Work with traditional software lifecycle methodologies. Perform coding, debugging and testing.
Define the integration between proposed development project and existing systems, software and hardware
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field
3+ years experience in Ruby on Rails
Provable knowledge of C# or C++
Strong OO design & programming skills
Knowledge and experience working in a agile development process (BDD or TDD)
Knowledge of how to use a version control system (git preferred)
Strong background in object-oriented design and systems architecture for mobile devices and wireless systems
Excellent object-oriented design & programming skills, including strong working knowledge and experience in using UML and design patterns
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be bilingual (English and Spanish)
